Wandering in Angkor Wat

Angkor Wat is huge! Located in Siam Riep, Cambodia, the remnants of the ancient Khmer renaissance are still impressive. The main compound, which is actually the only temple named Angkor Wat, is the most magnificent and is heavily visited by tourists. Equally impressive, but smaller in scale, are some of the outerlying temples. The releif carvings are exquisite, and the atmosphere is heavy with history. Ta Prohm is the name of one temple that will stick in my mind for a long time. The roots and trunks of gient trees are intertwined with the rocks from the buildings. Bakong is a tiered pyramid with large stone carvings perched on top.It was easy to get in to Siam Riep. There is an international airport with flights coming from Bangkok and Phnom Pehn. The town is actually more developed than other parts of Cambodia. It boasts plenty of places to eat and stay.

I’ve always been fascinated with East Asia, and lived in Singapore when I was a child (my father was working there). I just wanted to see the region up close as an adult. For the most part, I enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone.
